14.5.4. Accumulator removal

GENERAL INFORMATION

Interpretation of the symbols put on a label of the accumulator

1–at service of the accumulator it is necessary to observe rules according to the safety measures, stated in the operation manual;
2–in the accumulator there is a corroding acid and it is necessary to be careful, that acid did not spill from the accumulator;
3–do not use open fire about the accumulator;
4–at work with the accumulator use goggles;
5–keep the accumulator in a place inaccessible to children;
6–at utilization the accumulator hand over only in the points intended for this purpose;
7–do not throw out the accumulator together with household garbage;
8–the gases allocated at a battery charging, are explosive

The accumulator is established in a motor compartment behind the left headlight.

Prevention

At a detachment of plugs of the accumulator in blocks of memory of control units data on the written-down malfunctions therefore before a detachment of plugs of the accumulator it is desirable to address in a specialized workshop for a call from memory of the malfunctions written down in it are erased. After connection of the plug of the accumulator it is necessary to make active and reprogram window regulators with an electric drive, and also the provision of rear-view mirrors and seats.

Also if in the car the radio receiver with a code is established, before a detachment of plugs from the accumulator check that you have a code for repeated activization of the receiver. Otherwise to place a radio receiver in operation it will be possible only at the specialized Volkswagen station.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Switch off ignition.
2. Open a cowl.
3. Remove the negative plug from the accumulator and move it aside.
	4. From two parties compress a cover of the holder of safety locks (it is shown by shooters) and open it.
5. Weaken fastening (1) positive wire (see fig. An arrangement of the holder of safety locks over the storage battery).
6. Mark safety locks and take them from spring contacts. Unscrew nuts (And).
7. Disconnect the electric socket (2).
	8. Using a finger of a hand and a screw-driver edge, disconnect the holder of safety locks from the case of the storage battery (it is shown by shooters).
9. Having moved the case of the holder of safety locks up, remove it from the storage battery.
10. Weaken fastening and remove an electrowire plate from the positive plug of the accumulator (see fig. An arrangement of fastening of a clip of an electrowire plate to the positive plug of the accumulator).
	11. At existence open and remove a thermoprotective casing of the storage battery (it is specified by an arrow).
	12. In the lower part of the accumulator unscrew a bolt (it is specified by an arrow) and remove a plate of fastening of the accumulator.
13. Move the accumulator aside, thus release fastening of the second party of the accumulator and take the accumulator from a motor compartment.
14. On the accumulator there is a sticker with warning symbols (see fig. Interpretation of the symbols put on a label of the accumulator).
