4.1.1. Removal and installation of the fuel pump / fuel level sensor

Fuel level sensor fastening

1. Switch off ignition and remove a weight wire from the accumulator.
2. Remove back sitting, перемесите back a carpet and unscrew a cover located over the fuel pump / fuel level sensor.
3. Disconnect the electric socket of the fuel pump / fuel level sensor.
4. Keep in mind that the pipeline submitting fuel, is under pressure. Before a detachment топливопровода remove pressure in fuel system. For this purpose weaken a fastening collar топливопровода, then close a junction rags and, being careful, remove a fuel hose from the union. For protection of eyes against hit of fuel use goggles.
5. Weaken a collar and remove about unions of a fixing flange submitting (2) and returnable (1) топливопроводы (see fig. An arrangement on a fixing flange submitting and returnable топливопроводов). Close the ends of pipelines suitable jams.
6. Using the special VW-3217 tool, unscrew a flange nut. In the absence of the special tool unscrew a flange nut, using wooden whetstone and a hammer.
7. Take from an opening of a fuel tank a fixing flange and a sealing ring.
8. From the interior of a fixing flange mark and disconnect fuel hoses.
9. Merge fuel from the fuel pump in the corresponding capacity.
10. Being careful, disconnect the fuel level sensor. For this purpose disconnect electric sockets (3 and 4), a screw-driver release fixing clips (1 and 2) and, moving the sensor down, remove it (see fig. Fuel level sensor fastening).


1. Establish the fuel level sensor on an arm and, having pressed fixing clips, fix it.
2. From a reverse side of a fixing flange connect fuel pipelines.
3. Establish the fuel pump with the fuel level sensor in a fuel tank. Before installation dip a sealing ring into fuel.
4. Turn the fuel pump clockwise and fix it in a fuel tank.
5. Establish a fixing flange so that the label on a flange was combined with a label on a fuel tank (see fig. Fuel level sensor fastening).
6. Screw a flange nut and, using the special VW-3217 tool, tighten it the moment of 60 Nanometers.
7. Put on the union of a fixing flange submitting and returnable fuel hoses and fix them collars. Shooters on unions specify the direction to fuel streams. Returnable fuel hose of black color.
8. Connect the electric socket to a fixing flange.
9. Establish a cover over a fixing flange and screw it screws.
10. Check correctness and reliability of fastening of fuel and ventilating hoses to a fuel tank.
11. Establish into place a carpet and back sitting.
12. Connect a weight wire to the accumulator.
