The arrangement of control devices depends on concrete model of the car and engine type. Tachometer (1)
The arrow of a tachometer should not enter into a red zone of a scale at all.
The beginning of a red zone on a scale depends on the concrete engine.
Earlier switching on higher transfer allows to save fuel and reduces engine and transmission noise.
To pass to lower transfer follows as it is possible after, shortly before approach of that moment when there will be breakthroughs in operation of the engine.

For installation of the current time it is necessary to use the button located on the right below under a tachometer. |
Button turn counter-clockwise (arrow 1) against the stop establish hours. At single short-term turn of the button there is a shift on one hour. At turn of the button and its deduction in this situation there is a continuous shift of hours.
Button turn clockwise (arrow 2) against the stop establish minutes. At single short-term turn of the button there is a shift for one minute. At turn of the button and its deduction in this situation there is a continuous shift of minutes.
By means of this button it is possible to establish hours with second accuracy:

| 2. The button instantly to turn to the right when the second hand of control hours with an exact course will reach about full minute. |

Display of the route computer (2)

The display of the route computer (the multipurpose index of MFA) along with the indication of the current time gives more many additional information:
– temperature of external air;
– instant fuel consumption;
– average fuel consumption;
– passable distance;
– average speed of movement;
– stay time in a way.
The pictogram of parameter shown at present appears, except for the current time, at the top border of a display space.
Serial removal of additional information on the display is carried out at the included ignition by short-term pressing the balansirny key B located on the handle of inclusion of screen wipers.
If to press the top side of a key, indications of various sizes will be replaced one behind another.
If to press the bottom side of a key, indications of various sizes will be replaced one behind another upside-down.
STORES
The board computer is supplied with two automatic stores.
The store for storage of information on separate trips (MFA 1) accumulates in itself from the moment of inclusion till ignition switching off the following data on a trip: the movement time, the passable distance and amount of the spent fuel.
On the basis of these data average speed of movement and average specific fuel consumption pay off.
If for two hours from the moment of ignition switching off movement of the car was renewed, new data are added to former and considered in calculations of average values. At a break in car movement lasting more than two hours all data in the store are automatically erased.
The store for storage of information on total run (MFA 2) of the car accumulates in itself all data on any quantity of trips up to achievement of total indicators of size of 100 hours of movement of the car, 10000 km of run and 1000 liters of the spent fuel. The saved-up data serve for calculation of the average sizes of specific fuel consumption received following the results of all trips and speed of movement.
When the limit of one of the called sizes is exceeded, data in the store on total run are erased and counting is started over again. This store, unlike the store on separate trips, does not erase data after two hours of a break in car movement.
For request of data it is necessary to address to the corresponding store by means of pressing a key A on the podrulevy switch of screen wipers.
In the field of indications of hours with digital indication there is the corresponding indicator of the chosen store:
– MFA 1 – the store for storage of information on separate trips;
– MFA 2 – the store for storage of information on total run.
From stores it is possible to cause the following indicators:
– average specific fuel consumption;
– passable distance;
– average speed of movement;
– movement time.
The amount of the spent fuel is not shown.
If to hold pressed more than two seconds a key A, data in the chosen store are erased.
At a detachment of the storage battery data containing in both stores are erased.
INDICATIONS
At ignition inclusion on the display appears or the last chosen indicator, or the indication of external temperature with the pictogram in the form of a snowflake (the prevention in ice possibility).

The indication of the current time remains at ignition switching off.
Installation of the current time is carried out by means of turn of the adjusting button about a tachometer on an instrument guard. |

Temperature of external air
|
The range of indications from 40 ° With to +58 ° S.Pri the motionless car or at movement with very small speed shown value of temperature of external air can exceed some true value from for influences of thermal radiation of the engine.
At external temperature from +4 ° With to-7 ° With on the display in addition to size the pictogram in the form of a snowflake (the prevention in ice possibility) is shown to external temperature.
This pictogram blinks for about 5 seconds and then is shone until then while the external temperature will not exceed +4 ° With or will not fall below 7 ° Page.
At the prevention of ice the index is switched from a shown indicator to the indication of external temperature (the prevention of ice possibility).
Prevention
When you on size of temperature of external air do the conclusion about possibility of an icing of the road, keep in mind that ice on the road can appear and at temperature about +4 ° Page.
On the podrulevy switch it is possible to be switched by key B pressing to indication of a previous indicator again. |

Instant specific fuel consumption
|
Fuel consumption at the moment in liters on 100 km of run is shown.
Calculation of instant fuel consumption is made through 30 meters of run. On the motionless car the last indication of instant fuel consumption remains.
If after start of the engine the indicator of instant fuel consumption is chosen, the first 30–40 meters of movement value of average fuel consumption will be shown.
By means of indications of instant fuel consumption it is possible to correct the style of driving according to desirable fuel consumption. |

Average specific fuel consumption
|
|
Average value of specific fuel consumption, instead of fuel consumption size is highlighted at present.
This indicator starts to be highlighted right after a covering of tridtsatimetrovy distance since that moment when data in the corresponding store were erased. Before instead of figures on the display strokes are displayed. During movement the highlighted indicator is updated each five seconds.
At the chosen store for storage of information on separate trips (MFA 1) on the display average specific fuel consumption for this trip is shown.
At the store for storage of information on total run (MFA 2) on the display average specific fuel consumption on all last trips is shown.
Prevention
The amount of the spent fuel is not shown.

Passable distance
|
At the chosen MFA 1 store on the display run after inclusion of ignition or store cleaning is shown.
At the chosen MFA 2 store on the display run on all separate trips is shown.
The maximum value which can be shown, makes 9999 km. If run exceeds this value, is reckoned from scratch. |

|
Average speed of movement
|
| Everything that is stated above for an indicator "Average specific fuel consumption", it is fair and for an indicator "Average speed of movement". |
|
|
Movement time
|
| Everything that "The passable distance" is stated above for an indicator, it is fair and for an indicator "Movement time". The greatest possible indication on size makes 99 hours and 59 minutes. When this size is exceeded, is again reckoned from scratch. |
|
|
Temperature of cooling liquid (3)
|
|
|
and – a zone of low temperature. Avoid high frequency of rotation of the engine and do not give to the engine of big loading;
b–zone of normal working temperature. At normal movement of the car of the shooter should be in an average zone of a scale;
with – a lamp of the precautionary alarm system

The index works at the included ignition.
After ignition inclusion for several seconds at check of working capacity the lamp of the precautionary alarm system (c) burns.
At big load of the engine and high temperature of external air entry of an arrow into the top zone of a scale from time to time is possible. It should not cause alarm until the lamp of the precautionary alarm system (c) will start to burn.
If during movement the lamp of the precautionary alarm system starts to burn, it is necessary to look first of all, what temperature the index of temperature of cooling liquid shows.
If the arrow is in a zone of normal working temperature, it is necessary to add as soon as possible cooling liquid in cooling system.
If the arrow is in the right zone of a scale, it means that the temperature of cooling liquid is too high. It is necessary to stop the car, to switch off the engine and to establish the reason of temperature increase of cooling liquid.
Prevention
Installation of additional headlights before a front grille reduces efficiency of its action. At high temperature of air and big load of the engine there is a danger of an overheat of the engine!

The arrow specified a zone of a reserve stock of fuel.
d–precautionary lamp
|
The index works at the included ignition.
Capacity of a fuel tank of the car makes about 55 liters.
If the index reached a zone of a reserve stock of fuel (it is specified by an arrow) and at the same time the precautionary lamp (d) burns, it means that there were about 7 more liters of fuel. Display of a position of the selector of an automatic transmission (5)

The counter of the daily run passed the way / counter (6)
The top counter shows the general run of the car, bottom – run since a certain moment (the counter of daily run).
The last figure of indications of the bottom counter means 100-meter pieces.
Zeroing of the bottom counter is made by button pressing under a speedometer.
Service indicator (7)
When there comes term of carrying out the next servicing, on the bottom counter (the counter of daily run) speedometer there is one of mentioned below designations of a demanded category of maintenance:
– oil change – service OEL or service OIL;
– inspection service – service INSP.
Approximately in a minute after start of the engine the indication of designation of necessary maintenance disappears. You can include also the indication of daily run by pressing and keeping in the pressed situation more than 0,5 seconds of the adjusting button of the daily counter.
The service enterprise Volkswagen which carries out maintenance, after implementation of works establishes service indicator in a starting position.
If service was carried out not in the service enterprise Volkswagen, it is necessary to establish service indicator in a starting position in such order:

| 1. At the switched-off ignition press and hold in the pressed situation the zeroing button under a speedometer. |
| 2. Include ignition and release the zeroing button only when on the display there will be one of images of a necessary type of servicing. |
| 3. The minute button of installation of hours with digital indication turn to the right (at hours with strelochny indication the button extend). On the display there will be a following: "service-". |
| 4. Switch off ignition. Only now initial installation is made for indication of need of servicing. |
| 5. In any case it is necessary to establish only a necessary type of servicing. Otherwise time of necessary service will be incorrectly specified. It is possible to choose by pressing of the adjusting button a separate type of service. |
| 6. It is not necessary to carry out zeroing to the period between two maintenance – the device will give incorrect evidences. |
|
At the disconnected storage battery of the indication of run after servicing remain.
If after repair the speedometer is replaced, it is necessary to program service indicator anew. This operation should be carried out in the service enterprise Volkswagen. If service indicator anew is not programmed, it is necessary to carry out works on car maintenance on "The service book", instead of on service indicator. |
